Writing Ebooks for Money, Fame and Glory
If you’ve ever done anything a little out of the ordinary, or something ordinary for a very long time, or something ordinary in an extraordinary way…you can write an ebook about it that could make you rich, famous or at the very least more credible than your competitors.
I know, because 4 years ago I wrote an ebook about my experience having plastic surgery in the Dominican Republic. At first, it was just about 20 pages long…inspired as a solution to my own problem. You see, by luck I discovered that you can go to the Dominican Republic, have great plastic surgery performed by Board Certified Plastic Surgeons and pay only about 1/4th what the same surgery would cost you in the U.S.
I was so happy with my results, the low price and the great treatment I had received I wanted to share it with the world. I posted to a few message boards, and the response was overwhelming. I received so many emails requesting more details, I decided to write my ebook, “How to Get High-Quality Plastic Surgery…CHEAP!”
The response I got was wonderful. Many of those who bought and read the book took the time to write and thank me for making the information available. Before I knew it, I was being interviewed for magazines and TV shows!
I’ve met many great people as a result of writing the ebook and it has been very rewarding knowing that I helped a lot of people get what they really wanted and save a lot of money in the process. Since that first 20-page version, “How to Get High-Quality Plastic Surgery…CHEAP!” has grown to over 300 pages, and now includes many other countries in its scope. I’m now regarded as an authority on overseas plastic surgery. What was once only an ebook is now available in hard copy at online and offline retailers around the world.
When I sat down to write that first draft, I would never have guessed that it would change my life to the degree that it did. I have learned a lot about publishing, the media, myself, and most importantly about the power of the internet.
So, what do you have to share with the world?
Are you a step-parent who had to face emotional obstacles yet found ways to develop a bond with your step-children (and maybe the ex)? What advice could you offer others who were just starting to face the same type of issues and need some guidance?
Maybe you have experience with buying run-down properties and fixing them to rent or sell. You surely have some good tips and advice for the new real estate entrepreneur.
Are you a waitress or waiter? You could share your expertise on customer service, tolerating mean, hungry people with a smile and maximizing your tips.
The possibilities are endless…and the beauty of ebooks is even if your topic has been done, nobody will do it exactly like you would! Bringing your own personality, style and personal experiences into your writing will give your readers a satisfying reading experience, and set you apart from all ebooks about a similar subject. Of course, a unique subject is the easiest way to get attention so don’t be afraid to be different or tackle a subject that might be considered taboo.
And keep in mind, your ebook doesn’t have to be 300 pages in length. Anywhere from 15 to 30 pages is considered acceptable by most, and in all honesty brevity is best! People are busier than ever, and they need their information delivered in small, bite-size pieces.
Just make sure you give them what they paid for, written in a clear, easy to read and understand manner, with an approach that conveys an honest sincere intention to help them solve their problem or improve their life somehow.
Oh, one more thing…don’t forget to use your spell checker!
